blog 5a

The image by Salvador Dali and the cropped version are AFFINITY with each other when it comes to LINE & SHAPE and SPACE. Both images CONTRAST with each other when it comes to the type of framing. When it comes to line and shape both images have circular shapes that are arranged so that the circles line up with each other. In the original there is a background shape that looks like a woman, in the close up there is not enough to tell there is a picture. The picture of the woman is OBJECTIVE while the surrounding circle and who the woman is are SUBJECTIVE. The space of the image is very deep, while the cropped version is still deep it is not quite as deep. The FRAMING of the original picture would be a close up shot because it is mainly the focus of the woman’s face. In the cropped version it would be an extreme close up of the woman’s lips if anyone could tell at first glance. I enjoy this image because it reminds me of figure-ground images which I think are interesting.
